Marva Jo Ryder

Mrs. Marva Jo Ryder, age 80, of Pentwater, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013. She was born February 19, 1933, at home in Pentwater to Marshall and Persis "Perkie" (Warner) Paulsen. She graduated from Pentwater High School in the Class of 1951 and attended Muskegon Business College. She married William Ryder in April 1978 in California and he preceded her in death in 1995. While her most important job was that of a mother, Marva also did nursing home work and retired from Pentwater Wire Products (1995). She was a member of Pentwater Baptist Church and the Pentwater Friendship Center. Mrs. Ryder loved her family and her hometown of Pentwater. Her family remembers her delicious pumpkin pie and good potato salad.

Marva is survived by two daughters, , Julia (Dennis) Dufon of Kansas, and Paula Jo (Larry) Meyer of North Muskegon; five sons, Clark (Sally Jo) Freese of Onsted, Michigan, Robin Freese of Holton, Brent (Yong) Freese of Greenville, South Carolina, Jeffery (Theresa) Freese of Fruitport, Timothy Freese of Hamilton, Michigan; nine step-children; one sister: Zora Kompik of Pentwater; thirteen grandchildren, Sarah Joy, Johanna, Grace, Shawn, Shadrick, Michelle, Jenna, Constance, Whitney, Daphne, Angus, Kyle, Brielle; ten great-grandchildren; and her first husband, Norval "Gene" Freese of White Plains, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, William Ryder.

The Funeral Service for Mrs. Ryder will be held Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Pentwater with Pastor Mark Lillie officiating. Interment will be in North Weare Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at King Funeral Home. The family requests that any memorials be directed to First Baptist Church of Pentwater, 85 South Rutludge Street, Pentwater, MI 49449.
